Looking at the self,
which at first appears
to be a constant entity
moving through time,
we discover it’s more
of a standing wave form:
no “self” that persists –
only actualized by water
ever flowing through.
What is there to “be” enlightened?
Nor does the Ocean ever cease
its surge and flow. [...]

To me Zen is freedom
from unnecessary necessity;
and in that freedom,
time for other things.
No longer a stone
skipping across the surface,
I sink to the bottom
and hold the lakebed down.
Though both are a fantasy:
the one at rest

and a peace settled in
that was not of me.

This body has no importance.
It is but a vehicle.
A window into the world.
It serves the mind
But can also cage the mind.
